Optional grading before we ship
Want your BP09-096 Akiko Fuji to arrive authenticated, scored and sealed? As an enhanced service, you can have the card professionally graded before it ships.
It’s optional, and the card price doesn’t change
Choosing grading does not change the card’s sale price. Grading is a separate, optional add-on service. Any grading fee and the turnaround time are quoted at request time.
How it works
- Order: pre-order your card as usual.
- Request grading: tell us you want it graded.
- We send it in: we send the card to a professional grading company.
- Graded and slabbed: the card is examined, given a grade and sealed in a protective slab.
- Shipped to you: the slab comes home using our protective shipping process, insured and tracked.
What is grading?
A professional grader inspects the card’s centering, corners, edges and surface and gives it an overall condition score, usually on a 1–10 scale where 10 is the best. The card is then sealed in a hard, tamper-evident slab with a label showing the grade.
Collectors value graded cards because the grade is an independent, consistent record of condition, and the slab protects the card from handling and the environment. That makes cards easier to compare, display and trade with confidence. The grade itself is decided by the grading company, so no particular grade can be promised.
